Thank You For Coming To Our Open House
Jerud and I want to thank everyone who came out to our open house yesterday at Highland Brewing Company. We have to admit, we were worried that not a lot of people would show up. But you made our first open house a success and we left with big smiles on our faces and really happy.
Thank you for being interested in our story and curious about the Toaster and how it's set up. We got a great variety of questions, but the popular ones were about working on the road, how our Air Head composting toilet works, if we can run A/C on our solar set up, how we would've changed our layout knowing what we know now, lots of solar questions, how do the dogs like this lifestyle, do we get lonely on the road, and how much does the Toaster weigh.
We had such a good turn out yesterday that it took us a couple of hours before we could even grab a beer! That also meant I didn't get a single picture of the event until afterwards when the open house was done.
I'd like to quickly explain why we chose Highland Brewery to be our venue. Aside from them making delicious beers and having a great space, it's because of their sustainability efforts. On December 31, 2014, the brewery's 1,045 solar panels on their rooftop went live! According to their website, under peak conditions their system can create up to 324 kW DC. This makes them the 3rd largest craft brewing solar array in the U.S.
Check out Highland's sustainability page to learn more about their solar set up and what other sustainability features and plans they have.
Thanks again for coming out to meet us and see the Toaster!
